Representatives from the Matavén indigenous communities and members of the REDD+ Matavén Project technical team participated in the 5th Latin American Climate Summit, led by ASOCARBONO in partnership with IETA, in Cartagena, Colombia. This event provided a crucial platform for discussing and engaging in dialogue about the development of carbon markets with key industry stakeholders, diverse interest groups, and national and international media.
Highlighting the growing importance and need of community participation in these forums is essential. It is vital that their voices are heard, and their needs and perspectives are considered in decision-making processes that directly impact their environment and way of life. Communities are primary stakeholders, directly affected by the consequences of climate change, and the main beneficiaries of various initiatives.
Together is how we can create effective strategies to promote sustainable development. Collaborative efforts and the inclusion of all stakeholders are essential for achieving a positive and lasting impact in the global fight against climate change.
