With strong commitment and active participation, the 2025 ACATISEMA Cabildo Assembly and Coordinating Committee took place in Bogotá, Colombia, on January 30-31. This pivotal event played a crucial role in strengthening Indigenous governance, shaping sustainability strategies for the REDD+ Matavén Project, and ensuring the long-term development of Matavén.
During these days of deliberation and consensus, key topics were addressed, including the review of the 2024 budget execution for REDD+ Matavén, the approval of the 2025 budget, the planning of the ACATISEMA General Assembly, and the organization of sectoral and zonal meetings.
The event brought together the ACATISEMA Board of Directors, the Coordinating Committee, the 17 Cabildos, members of the Association, Indigenous leaders, members of IPS Indígena Matavén Salud, and Mediamos representatives.
This space is where Indigenous authorities make key decisions that shape the future of the REDD+ Matavén Project—setting priorities, allocating budgets, and defining actions that will guide the year’s agenda. Their leadership strengthens community autonomy and empowerment, reinforcing an inclusive and participatory governance model.
Since its inception, the REDD+ Matavén Project has been designed and led by Indigenous communities through ACATISEMA (learn more about ACATISEMA here), ensuring that all major decisions are made collectively within their governance structures.
