At the REDD+ Matavén Project, we believe that transparency, accessible information, and respect for cultural diversity are essential to achieving the goals of the project. That’s why we created and distributed 746 educational posters that explain what the international standards guiding our work are, and why they matter so much: Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and Climate, Community & Biodiversity (CCB), both already validated; and SD VISta, for which we are currently undergoing the validation and verification process. All three standards are globally recognized for their excellence and leadership in climate action and sustainable development.
Making Information Accessible in Indigenous Languages
Recognizing the rich linguistic and cultural heritage of the Matavén Forest Indigenous Reserve, we translated the posters into all six native languages spoken in the territory: Cubeo, Curripaco, Piapoco, Piaroa, Puinave, and Sikuani. This ensures that every community can understand the importance of these standards in protecting their forest, water, biodiversity, and life itself.
