As part of our “Activity 1: Surveillance and Control of the territory” we installed 4 billboards in order to reduce the vulnerability of the Indigenous Reservation of the Mataven Forest (RIU-SM for its acronym in Spanish) & protect its tropical forests and rich biodiversity. These billboards contain the contact information of the closest Indigenous Guard checkpoint, so that people can alert and inform them about any threat to the RIU-SM natural resources. The billboards are by the Uva river, Tonina Caño Matavén, Paloma Uva Brazo de Manaven and Caño Bocón Cumaral.
Our Mataven REDD+ Project is a participatory process, we work hand in hand with RIU-SM indigenous communities to tackle climate change, stop deforestation, protect their tropical forests & reduce CO2 global emissions – while safeguarding their rich biodiversity and improving their well-being.
