89 motor scythes for the families participating in the Agroforestry Project of cocoa, plantain and abarco!

We provided 89 motor scythes to the indigenous families participating in the Agroforestry Project of cocoa, plantain and abarco, in the Matavén communities of Palmarito, Miraluz, Morocoto, Morichal, Yurí, Cumaral, Caño Bocón, Berlín 1, Sejalito 1, San Luis De La Rompida. We also delivered training sessions – led by an expert technician – on how to use and maintain the equipment.

Weed management and control are traditionally done by hand and with a machete; and it can take approximately 5 days (1 hectare). With the motor scythe, this task can be done in one or two days. This tool not only contributes to the crops management of this Agroforestry Project, but also helps maintaining other crops.
