Activity 2: Improvement of the systems of communications, transportation & information
During 2021, we continued creating better and greater access to information, local markets, education and healthcare services, increasing indigenous communities participation in REDD+ Matavén activities and other opportunities.
- We designed, produced, and distributed 8000 newspapers of REDD+ Matavén.
- We published a monthly article of REDD+ Matavén activities in El Morichal Newspaper.
- We provided resources to conduct more than 100 workshops & meetings (logistics, transportation, food, hotels, etc.)
- We provided more than 500 monetary aids for transportation (river, land, air; meetings, workshops, visits, delivery of food, materials, supplies and tools, among others) and maintenance of means of transportation (boats and motorcycles).
- We provided tools and means of transportation: 368 motorcycles, 107 motors, 26 bicycles, 13 boats, 20 life jackets and 1 freighter.
- We built 4 footbridges.
- We supported the cleaning and maintenance of 11 neighborhood roads.
- We provided boat transportation for indigenous going from and to communities in Zone 5.
*It is important to note that the Project also finances the delivery of all products and services to Matavén communities, an item of great importance given the extension and geography of the territory (large territory- 1,856,836 hectares – without internal land routes, transportation must be done through the rivers).
