Through this Key Activity, we aim to create better and greater access to information, healthcare services, education, and local markets while enhancing mobility and community participation in the REDD+ Matavén Project and other initiatives of interest. Travel
Support
We provide allowances for transportation (river, land, air), lodging, and meals to help Indigenous leaders and members of the Resguardo participate in meetings, workshops, working groups, and institutional engagements with government ministries, mayor’s offices, governor’s offices, and national public and private entities.
This also includes participation in national and international events, contract follow-up visits, project execution verification, territory monitoring, and the delivery of school kits, food, supplies, tools, and materials for productive projects.
- Transportation improvements: We have acquired and maintained essential transportation means, including boats, outboard engines, life vests, bicycles, motorcycles, and fuel to support community travel needs.
- Community boat support: We cover the purchase, operating expenses, parking, and maintenance of the community boat, ensuring reliable river transport for the Resguardo.
- Infrastructure development: We constructed a community ferry in the Caño Cawasi sector and built several neighborhood and pedestrian bridges to improve access and connectivity.
- Path and creek maintenance: We support the cleaning and maintenance of ancestral paths, neighborhood routes, and local creeks to ensure safe and accessible travel for community members.
Improving Access to Information, Healthcare, Education and Markets
- Internet access: We have distributed internet vouchers to support connectivity and access to information.
- Technology and cultural support: We deliver and install technological equipment with Wi-Fi, musical instruments, and sound systems for community meeting centers, fostering cultural exchange and communication.
- Educational and institutional materials: We design, produce, and distribute educational materials such as newspapers, banners, and booklets to keep the community informed and engaged.
- Content creation: We develop content in Spanish and English for our website, social networks, and other communication channels to share updates and achievements with a broader audience.

With limited internal roads, most transportation happens by river, which is costly and time-consuming. As part of our ongoing activities, REDD+ Matavén finances transportation for people and delivers essential products and services to the communities of the Resguardo.
