As part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen Indigenous governance, a database update was carried out in the sectors of Caño Cawasi and Bajo Río Vichada Dos. The main objective was to improve the accuracy and reliability of demographic and administrative information across the Reserve.
Members of the Association of Indigenous Councils and Traditional Authorities of the Matavén Forest (ACATISEMA), in collaboration with local authorities and community members, successfully:
- Updated the population census.
- Raised awareness about the importance of accurate and up-to-date information.
- Verified and corrected errors in identification documents.
This process reinforces transparency and community organization, while enabling more effective decision-making based on reliable data aligned with the real needs of Indigenous communities.
Accurate information is essential for the development of Matavén and for the implementation of the REDD+ Matavén Project. It allows us to design programs and activities with a cultural and territorial approach, respecting the unique dynamics of each community. These actions represent a collective exercise of sovereignty, the strengthening of Indigenous autonomy, and a shared commitment to territorial care.
Additional visits to other sectors of Matavén will be carried out soon, continuing this effort to build informed, participatory, and sustainable Indigenous governance.
