On August 9, we celebrated the International Day of Indigenous Peoples in the Matavén community of Macocoba (Caño Cawasi Sector). Indigenous children, young girls & boys, and adults participated in different activities and autochthonous games, such as: children’s oral health free services provided by the IPS Indígena Matavén Salud, free hairdressing, bow and arrow contests, pot race, yucca grating contest, traditional dances, musical groups, typical dishes, among others.
This event is part our Activity 2: Strengthening the governance of ACATISEMA, to contribute to the preservation of Matavén indigenous worldview, cultural integrity and ancestral knowledge; as well as the promotion of togetherness and respect among women and men belonging to the 6 Matavén indigenous ethnic groups: Sikuani, Piaroa, Piapoco, Puinave, Curripaco and Cubeo.
