REDD+ Matavén at the Colombia & Latam Climate Summit 2025

Three days of dialogue, collaboration, and action for a high-integrity carbon market

From October 14 to 16, 2025, the REDD+ Matavén Project participated in the Colombia & Latin America Climate Summit, organized by Asocarbono in Bogotá. The event brought together leaders from the carbon market to discuss the future of climate finance, biodiversity conservation, and high-integrity carbon projects across the region.

Over three days, the summit addressed essential themes shaping the path toward a transparent and credible climate market:

  • Integrity and transparency: strengthening trust through clear standards, independent verification, and accountability mechanisms for carbon projects.
  • Climate finance: highlighting the urgent need to channel capital into nature-based solutions that protect forests and empower local communities.
  • Communities and biodiversity: where REDD+ Matavén was invited to join two panel discussions to share lessons learned and our governance experience, showcasing how Indigenous leadership and collective decision-making can successfully drive large-scale forest conservation.

In a moment when the carbon market is undergoing transformation, these spaces for dialogue and collaboration are crucial. They reaffirm the need for joint action among the public sector, private companies, and Indigenous communities to rebuild confidence and accelerate climate action with social and environmental integrity.
