The Loma Primitivo community, located in the Bajo Río Vichada Dos sector, recently hosted a session to present the “Transforming Lives” Ethnic Higher Education Fund, an initiative supported by the REDD+ Matavén Project. During this event, we shared key information about the program, including eligibility requirements and the selection process. More importantly, we opened a space for dialogue with local youth and families to explore how access to higher education can transform lives and strengthen the future of Matavén.
Education that Strengthens the Territory
“Transforming Lives” is a program driven and financially supported by the REDD+ Matavén Project. It aims to cover the full costs for Indigenous youth to access higher education, including tuition and living expenses such as housing, transportation, meals, study materials, uniforms, and equipment. In return, beneficiaries commit to returning to Matavén to apply their knowledge in service of their communities.
Education: One of the 8 Key Activities of the REDD+ Matavén Project
Education is one of the eight Key Activities that structure the REDD+ Matavén Project. Through this strategic action, we create real opportunities for Indigenous communities to gain knowledge, develop skills, and grow into leaders who can actively participate in environmental conservation, territorial governance, and the protection of natural resources.
