On March 31st, we held the fourth (4th) General Assembly of our Coomatavén Cooperative in the indigenous community of Cumaral.
Fifty (50) associates participated in the Assembly where we presented 2022 results; highlighting the official opening of the collection center and the cooperative store in Inírida and the two (2) cooperative stores in Cumaral (Cumaral Sector) and Morichal (Morocoto Sector). We are creating the cooperative stores to market products that are grown, crafted and needed by Matavén indigenous communities and people from the surrounding areas. As a matter of fact, we are promoting/trading the cocoa from the communities participating in our Cocoa Agroforestry Productive Project. Cooperative stores are a solution to satisfy consumer needs at a favorable price, guarantee food security, build new commercial opportunities by creating a network of local economic solidarity circuits.
During the Assembly we also emphasize the continuous strengthening of Coomatavén associates skills in governance, roles, functions, economic solidarity, values and principles of cooperativism, planning and formulation of projects.
Precisely, we continue reinforcing the legacy chosen by Coomatavén associates, a phrase from the AHIMARA indigenous community of Bolivia: “May we all go together, may no one be left behind, may everything be within reach for all, and may no one lack of anything”.
