We just finished the first cocoa collection center in Matavén indigenous community of San Luis de la Rompida. This is one (1) of the 9 (nine) centers that we will be building in the communities participating in our Agroforestry Productive Project of Cocoa, Plantain & Abarco (forest native species).
A collection center is a structure to ferment and dry the cocoa beans, to ensure its quality, in order to sell the product in fair markets where environmental & indigenous work is valued.
The Agroforestry Productive Project of Cocoa, Plantain & Abarco is part of our “ACTIVITY 6: DEVELOPMENT OF PRODUCTIVE PROJECTS” to boost crops (conucos) productivity, promote sustainable agricultural practices (land use), reduce pressure on the forest, guarantee food security & create new opportunities; to improve Matavén indigenous quality of life and protect their natural resources.
