Higher Education Program

Matavén indigenous people who wish to continue their studies in higher education can participate in the “REDD+ Matavén Activity 5: Training and education programs for Matavén indigenous communities”; where we provide economic assistance & tools, and we improve learning conditions to increase Matavén indigenous peoples knowledge & skills to manage and participate in the protection of their natural resources.

 

To participate in this program, you must contact ACATISEMA Education Coordination and submit the required documents for evaluation.

***There is a limit of students who can participate in the Program, given the budget.

 

The student is free to choose the degree and the educational institution. Applicants must meet the following requirements:
  • Submit high school diploma.
  • Submit copy of Colombian ID (cédula de ciudadanía).
  • Submit certificate signed by the Captain of your Community verifying that you belong to the Indigenous Reservation of the Matavén Forest.
  • Submit certificate signed by the Cabildo of your Sector verifying that you belong to the Indigenous Reservation of the Matavén Forest.
  • Submit Certificate of Commitment to Good Behavior and Academic Achievement.
  • Participate in the administrative and political processes of ACATISEMA.
  • Participate in community work in your Matavén Community.
  • Demonstrate ethical and moral behavior.
  • Submit enrollment certificate.
  • Notify modality (face-to-face, online or hybrid).
  • Notify chosen City.
  • Pass on the next course.
  • Keep an academic average above 3.5 out of 5.

REDD+ Matavén is an environmental & social project tackling climate change and multi-dimensions of poverty. We stop deforestation, we protect tropical forests in the Indigenous Reservation of the Matavén Forest (Vichada, Colombia), while safeguarding its biodiversity and improving their indigenous people quality of life.
