At the REDD+ Matavén Project, we proudly celebrate a powerful example of how identity-based education can transform lives. Julián Beltrán, an Indigenous youth from the Caño Cawasi sector, has graduated with a degree in Business Administration, supported by our Ethnic Higher Education Program “Transforming Lives Fund”.
This program covers university tuition and full living expenses, including housing, transportation, food, study materials, and equipment. In return, beneficiaries commit to returning to Matavén and applying their knowledge to serve their communities, strengthening leadership, self-governance, and the protection of Matavén’s cultural and natural heritage.
Julián’s achievement is an inspiring example of what can be accomplished when education is approached through a comprehensive and community-based lens. His perseverance and commitment illuminate the path for future generations of Indigenous youth who aspire to build a dignified and sustainable future, deeply rooted in their ancestral traditions.
Congratulations, Julián! Your success is also a step forward for a stronger and better-prepared Matavén, committed to defending its forests, biodiversity, water, and people.
