The Nature Tourism Project is one of the 4 Productive Projects that we are developing within REDD+ Matavén.
We started the Nature Tourism Project in July 2021, in 4 Matavén communities, in alliance with the Colombian foundation “Cuidar la Tierra”, so as to protect Matavén natural resources, create new economic opportunities, and improve their indigenous communities’ quality of life.
We created the first Indigenous Community Tourism Council with 8 indigenous representatives (2 representatives per community). We explored and identified the tourist attractions in the community of La Urbana, and we are currently designing, reviewing, and adjusting the creation of its interpretive/nature trail. We are also looking to multiply this process in the other 3 indigenous communities.
