We are working on the Productive Project of sustainable ornamental fisheries – in alliance with FUNINDES – in 3 indigenous communities: Pueblo Nuevo Zama, La Urbana and Pueblo Escondido (Zone 3 of the Reservation). We started the Project in July 2021 and we currently have 30 participants (10 indigenous people in each community). We have provided technical training on sustainable fishing practices, and management and control of fishing mortality. We are designing a fish collection center and we are working with the Colombian National Authority for Aquaculture and Fisheries (UNAP for its acronym in Spanish) to jointly prepare a field file, in order to meet legal regulations.
