At REDD+ Matavén, we design, produce, and distribute our institutional newspaper every year, a key communication tool that strengthens transparency, promotes community participation, and keeps a direct line open with the Indigenous communities leading the Project.
We are deeply committed to sharing information openly, because informed participation is the foundation of true collective governance. Telling our story is not just communication, it’s a tool for empowering decision-making, building trust, and reinforcing community leadership.
In 2025, we proudly celebrate the sixth consecutive edition of this publication, where we highlight our progress and achievements in protecting the forests, waters, and biodiversity of Matavén, while also improving the quality of life of over 22,000 Indigenous people from six ancestral peoples.
Thanks to the active leadership of the communities and the joint efforts of the project developers: ACATISEMA and MEDIAMOS F&M, REDD+ Matavén continues to grow as a high-impact, Indigenous-led climate solution, delivering measurable environmental, social, and cultural co-benefits on the ground.
The newspaper also serves as a crucial educational tool during our annual workshops with Captains and Indigenous Guards. It helps us reflect on our achievements, address questions, and bring forward local voices. It plays a key role in monitoring, collective learning, and the strengthening of Indigenous territorial governance.
For the 2025 edition, we distributed 5,000 printed copies across the territory, including Puerto Carreño, Cumaribo, and Inírida, reaching local institutions, mayors’ offices, and governors. Most importantly, it was shared during our annual Captains’ workshops, where each Captain received copies based on their community’s population and took them back to ensure everyone has access to the information. Copies are also available at the ACATISEMA offices in Inírida and Cumaribo.
We also offer a digital version of the newspaper. This allows anyone, from communities to allies, investors, and public institutions, to explore what we’ve built together, year after year.
