On June 3rd and 4th, we held the sixth (6th) version of the ” Traditional & Autochthonous Games” of Matavén in Laguna Checa, Bajo Río Vichada.
Matavén indigenous peoples from different communities participated in autochthonous sports competitions such as canoeing, indoor soccer, bow and arrow contests; and cultural activities, such as traditional dances and musical groups, among others.
This event is part of our “Activity 3: Strengthening of ACATISEMA governance” whereby we promote the union and respect of Matavén indigenous peoples and contribute to the preservation of their worldview, ancestral knowledge and cultural integrity, diversity and identity.
ACATISEMA is an indigenous organization legally recognized by the Colombian government, representing and leading Matavén political, economic and socio-cultural processes; to ensure the survival of their indigenous peoples and the protection of their natural resources. ACATISEMA is one of the developers of REDD+ Matavén.
